There are many indications we are living in the end time:
Mathew 24 - watch the fig tree.
-When it blossoms again, we will know Jesus is at the gates to return.
-The generation that see’s the reestablishment of Israel will see all of this happen.
-He will return to Jerusalem when it is under gentile control.
-Jews recaptured Jerusalem.
-Watch Israel!!!
-Israel was re-established 5/4/48.
Jesus is coming soon - we are living on borrowed time. If you have accepted Jesus, this should mean everything.
First: The book of Revelation is worthy of study:
-Shelbia says we must understand that God wants us to understand Revelation.
-Best thing: we have the Bible - its the best commentary on itself.
Second thing: This is not a book for unbelievers. You have to have the Holy Spirit in you. You cannot understand this book unless you have the Holy Spirit in you. You have to lean upon the Holy Spirit.
-Unfortunately, at this point, this applies to those that are professing Christians but have no relationship with Jesus, so they can’t understand Revelation.
Symbols:
-Revelation was written with symbols and the Roman’s didn’t understand it.
-A lot of the symbols interpret themselves. We don’t need to worry a lot about this.
-Symbols are used for a specific purpose. They have a literal meaning behind them. They do not stand for just anything we may desire.
-Best rule of thumb is to accept the plain sense meaning.
-The Bible means what it says and says what it means.
- verse 1:19, Jesus instructs John to write the things you have seen, which are, and which take place after these things.
-flash forwards are given to encourage us.
7th key: It is very important to study the Old Testament. Shelbia didn’t have any clue that there was so much Old Testament in Revelation. It’s very important to have a handle on Daniel to understand Revelation.
-Chapter 9:24 of Daniel talks about the 70 weeks. Each week = 7 years.
The 70th week - we will be out of here and the tribulation occurs.
Chapt 4:1
1 After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter.
There are people who believe we will be around for the tribulation temple:
-We know Israel is prepared to build the temple.
-They have the plans for it, but have to get permission to build on the temple of the rock.
8th key - keep your eyes on Jesus. This is a point that cannot be emphasized enough. Look at Rev -1:1. It says this is the revelation of Jesus Christ from beginning to end, it is the revelation of Jesus. We have to be focused on Jesus.
There are four places in heaven that talks about people who will not be heaven:
GOD IS JUST! Romans 1:18-32
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

Gen 18:17 - the LORD said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do;
-“We are now entering into a period of time of which the Bible has more to say than any other period of time in history. Events will move in a more rapid succession as the end approaches. Even non-believing people are beginning to wonder if some sort of Armageddon is in our immediate future”.
-“Those of us who are Born Again need not fear that time, for we are ready for that day. In fact, we can rejoice as we see that day approaching, for we know that our departure from this Low ground of sin and sorrow is eminent. I.E., we will be OUT OF HERE...long before that day arrives. I seem to recall the words of an old song that goes something like this: “Are you ready, are you ready, ready for that Judgment Day? Yes we (The born again ones) are ready but for the unsaved there is a certain sense of foreboding, an unexplainable fear as they see what this world is coming to. And we (the Born again ones) are the watchmen and watch women given the task of crying out the warning as we see that day approaching”.
REVELATION (The unveiling)
“We are about to enter some deep water, in the sense that as we study the Book of Revelation we will see some of the deep secrets of the Old Testament come to our understanding thru the Light of the New Testament. We will take many scenic tours through the whole Bible. Consequently we will quickly learn that to understand the text before as we must be aware of the context, which ultimately becomes the entire Bible. That being said, the notion that this book cannot be understood; or that it was meant to be understood only by a privileged few has kept many from the blessing promised by the Word of God itself, concerning this book (Revelation) before us”.
Jesus said to the religious leaders (who did not believe in HIm) in
John 8:43 - ‘why do ye not understand my speech? Even because ye cannot hear my word.”
-To His friends as to Abraham of old, He reveals what the future holds. As to the blessing: We are about to enter a book of the Bible that is the only portion of scripture that promises a special blessing to the participant, to the listener, to the reader, and to those who KEEP those things which are written therein.
-There is only one book in the Bible that says ‘read me, I am special’. It’s the book that is probably read the least. The book of Revelation. We are projected into the future.
-Revelation is the unveiling of Jesus Christ. The Greek word is apokaloopsis, which means appearing, coming, lighten, manifestation, be revealed, revelation. His unveiling as He is today, as well as in the future.
-Peace about the future is a special blessing for Christians.
Luke wrote Acts
- every time Jesus is presented it is from the Old Testament. -The book of Acts covers the early church.
-The book of Acts covers about 30 years of the Church; roughly.
-The church has gone on for almost 2000 years. We are going to discover, amazingly enough, that Revelation CHAPTERS 2 & 3 PICK UP WHERE Acts finishes and covers that period of time, among other things. These two chapters will prove to be the most significant to use, but are the ones that are usually ignored.
-We who believe that the Rapture takes place prior to all that goes on from Chapters 4 thru 22, could argue that the only chapters that apply to use in a practical sense are 2 & 3. That may make more sense to us when we get there and look at that carefully.
-The key idea of the Book of Revelation is Redemption (not salvation). Salvation is a rescue operation; while Redemption is the restorative of that which was lost, to the original owner. The first Adam lost control; the second Adam (Jesus Christ) will regain that control.
-We find something very interesting; the structure, the design, of the book of Joshua, foreshadows the structure and design of the Book of Revelation.
-In the book of Joshua, we have this military conqueror who takes his people in to possess the Land that God promised to Abraham, with the difference in the Book of Revelation being, the decimal point is moved over a bit; It’s not the Land of Canaan, but the Planet Earth we are talking about; and its not just Israel, it’s God’s people in a broader sense; and its not Joshua, it’s (Yeshua); none other than our lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
-So the point is, one of the things that will enrich your view of Revelation, and also enrich your view of the Bible is to realize how these things have the finger prints of the Holy Spirit woven into the fabric of the scripture as a whole. We will really begin to see how these 66 books, although they have some 40 different writers, have one Author: That being, THE HOLY SPIRIT.
-In the Old Testament, Abraham has a unique title; he is called the ‘friend of God’,
Isaiah 41:8
8 But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
James 2:23
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
-because he believed God and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
Gen 15:6
6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness.
In the New Testament, who does Jesus call his friends? The disciples,
John 15:15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
-Why did he all them His friends? because like Abraham, they ‘believed God’. By extension all believers are included in that statement in John 15:15.
-There is a specific person in the Old Testament that is called the ‘beloved’. (Daniel). He is called that 3 times in the Book of Daniel:
Daniel 9:23
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
10:11
11 And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.
10:19
19 And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.
-Who wrote the apocalyptic book of the Old Testament? Daniel!
-Of all the disciples in the New Testament, who is called the ‘disciple Jesus loved’? John! No less than 4 times John is referred to as that disciple ‘whom Jesus loved’:
John 13:23
23 Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved.
John 20:2
2 Then she runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them, They have taken away the LORD out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.
John 21:7
7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fisher's coat unto him, (for he was naked,) and did cast himself into the sea.
John 21:20
20 Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?
-To keep things clear, Jesus loved all His disciples. But John was special. Who wrote the apocalyptic book of the New Testament, Revelation? John!
Jesus revealed many things to His disciplines in the Upper room. His coming again:
John 14:3
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
John 15:15
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
-His going away and the ‘coming of the Holy Spirit’ and that He (the Spirit) will ‘show them things to come.
-John wrote 5 books in the Bible: John 1, John 2, John 3, St John, and Revelation.
REVELATION Chapter 1:1 -
1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:
-God gave this to whom? Jesus Christ!
-Can Jesus ‘learn’?
-Can the Father reveal to the Son? (Luke 2:52)
52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
Mark 13:32
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Acts 1:6-7
6 When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
7 And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
-We know that the child Jesus ‘grew’ in knowledge. All the stories about His childhood miracles are unscriptural. Now, most scholars recognize that He came into a broad awareness of His mission and destiny at HIs Baptism. The Baptism of Jesus Christ is bigger, I think, than most of us realize when we read that part of the Gospels.
But theres a strong age remark that Jesus makes “Speaking of the end of the age” in
Mark 13:32 (RAPTURE WILL COME) -
32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
-Thank about that! Whatever else that means, it also implies at least at that moment; some things the Father knew that the son didn’t. That’s difficult for us to get our minds around. Now; it would seem then that there are things that were revealed to Him, when the time came, and it would seem suggestive at least that that’s part of what Revelation is all about.
-The Revelation (unveiling) of Jesus Christ which God gave unto Him (to Jesus). So if this language seems a little lofty, it should not surprise us, because that means, this message came straight from the Throne of God.
-To Show Unto His Servants things which must shortly (quickly ) come to pass: The word ‘shortly’ is actually the word (etc-takh’-os) in the Greek. And it doesn’t mean shortly like a short duration of time. It’s more like RPM on an engine. It comes from the Greek word from which we get the word tachometers. It means quickly. I.E., Once these things start they are going to happen very quickly (in rapid succession). That’s really what the word means.
-HE SENT AND SIGNIFIED IT (Made it into signs; symbols) AND SENT IT BY HIS ANGEL (ang’-el-os) UNTO HIS SERVANT JOHN: Angel means messenger.
-John was the beloved servant.
-It’s natural for God to be supernatural - Robert Morris. VERSE 2: Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, and of all things that he saw.
-John is projected to where we are, looking back. So his frame of reference is from our time frame looking back.
To know Jesus, read the book of John. He wrote so that we might believe. It talks about love and sin.
John 20:31-
31 But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.
His Epistles were written that we might be sure.
1 John 5:13-These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
The Book of Revelation was written that we might be ready.
Revelation 22:20-He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
-To believe, be sure, and be ready.
-The threefold work of Christ; namely that of Prophet, Priest and King.
PROPHET - He was the Prophet foretold by Moses in
Deut 18:15
15 The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
Peter in his sermon in the Temple declared that Christ was that Prophet
Acts 3:19-26
19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;
20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
21 Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.
22 For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you.
23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.
24 Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days.
25 Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed.
26 Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities.
-As a Prophet, Christ foretold His Death and Resurrection. His Parabolic teaching was full of Prophetic statements, and in His Olivet Discourse
(Matthew 24: 1-25, 46)
1 And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple.
2 And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?
4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.
5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.
9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.
10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.
11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.
13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
17 Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:
18 Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not.
24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.
25 Behold, I have told you before.
46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
PRIEST: Christs present work is that of a high Priest. He intercedes for us with God.
Heb 4:14-
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Heb 9:24-
24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
Having as our High Priest, taken His own blood within the ‘veil’, Jesus still tarries,engaged in His High Priestly work, (as our intercession), and will continue to tarry throughout this GREAT DAY OF ATONEMENT, while His bride is being prepared. At the close of which he will lay aside His High Priestly robes and come forth in His Kingly dress as He enters upon the 3rd Phase of HIs work, That of:
THE KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS! (In the future, Jesus will be this!)

Revelation 17:14
Read, Hear and Keep - This is one of the great verses of this Book. I don’t think you could find a verse like this anywhere else in scripture. Blessed is he that readeth!
7 Beatitudes in Revelation:

3 Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.
14:13
13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
16:15
15 Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
19:9
9 And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
20:6
6 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
22:7
Behold, I come quickly: blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book.
22:14
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
-The number 7 (complete; not Divine). The number 7 comes up a lot. 7 days make a weekly Sabbath, 7 years make a Sabbath of years, Joshua marched around Jericho 7 times, Naaman (general of Syrian army) who was a leper was instructed to wash in the Jordan River 7 times, the story of Joseph and the 7 years of plenty and 7 years of famine in Egypt, Nebuchadnezzar was mad for 7 years.
-In Revelation there are 7 churches, 7 lamp stands, 7 spirits, 7 stars, 7 lamps, 7 promises to the overcomers, 7 seals, 7 horns, 7 eyes, 7 angels, 7 trumpets, 7 thunders, 7 thousand, 7 heads, 7 crowns, 7 plagues, 7 bowls, 7 mountains, 7 kings, and there are many more that are most subtle, but you get the idea. There are a lot (thousands) of 7’s in the Bible!
Verse 4:
4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: (Asia Minor and Turkey) Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;
-Here’s where the book begins - we have a sort of heading or title: John to the 7 churches which are in Asia: It opens like a letter. John has this opening chapter where he introduces the Book. There are 7 cover letters by Jesus Christ Himself to 7 churches and then the rest of the book is attached to all of that.
-John has been pastor of the Church at Ephesus, and it is thought that he had oversight of all the churches in that area.
GRACE AND PEACE:
- Grace = char is (Greek form of greeting)
-Peace = (shalom) the Hebrew form of greeting. We could gather from this that we don’t need to be frightened as we study this book, IF WE HAVE THE PEACE OF GOD IN OUR HEARTS!
-7 SPIRITS who are before his Throne!
-The Spirit of the Lord shall be upon him.
Isaiah 7:2
2 And it was told the house of David, saying, Syria is confederate with Ephraim. And his heart was moved, and the heart of his people, as the trees of the wood are moved with the wind.
One of the tragedies of the early church, in the early centuries; actually from the early centuries on, the Christian Church became very Anti-Jewish; and that was very tragic for the Jew, because thru 1900 years of abuse, much of the persecution of the Jews has come under the Banner of Jesus Christ. You remember the so called Holy Crusades, where it is reported that the Crusaders had contests to see how many Jewish babies that could put on the end of a sword. When you read the history of the Christian Church in terms of its relation to the Jews, it’s tragic.
Isaiah 11:1-2
1 And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:
2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
TITLES OF JESUS CHIRST:
REVELATION 5:2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
5:5 and one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
IF YOU WANT TO DO A STUDY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, YOU START IN GENESIS,
CHAPTER 1:2
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
REV 1:4- WE SEE MENTION OF EACH MEMBER OF THE TRINITY, “JESUS CHIRST” REFERS TO GOD THE SON, THE 7 SPIRITS REFER TO THE HOLY SPIRIT, AND HIS WHICH IS, AND WHICH WAS, AND WHICH IS TO COME - REFERS TO GOD THE FATHER.
-Now, having said that, you may have noticed that phraseology will also fit Jesus CHIRST. WHAT DID JESUS SAY IN JOHN 10:30?
-HAL LINDSEY SAYS ‘Bible is like a golden thread from Genesis to Revelation!
-Old Testament is New Testament revealed; New Testament is Old Testament concealed.
-Prepare for tomorrow - trust God today!
-Encourage one another.
-We are covered by the blood of Jesus.
I Thessalonians 4:17
7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.
II Thessalonians 2:
1 Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.

10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
-Christians are holding back the lawless ones. Antichrist won’t come til we are out of here.
